Please don't call me Mam

Someone called me Mam while I was shooting video today. Ugh! I really don't like that word. I know the term is a sign of respect in some areas of the country, but it drives me nuts and makes me feel old. Of course, it didn't help that the person saying it to me didn't have a nice tone to her voice. Seriously, just say "excuse me" or even "Miss." I'll respond back much more nicely.
