My Brave Boy

When I picked Jack up from daycare today he told me, "Thunderstorms don't scare me." There were thunderstorms in our area this afternoon, but I'm not sure what inspired his declaration of bravery. He sounded so cute when he said it. Of course, everything he says sounds cute.

#101 Reason Why It Will Be Hard to Get Jack Back in the House This Summer

Guess who now has a swingset in his backyard?
A big thanks to my mom and dad who brought their truck and helped us dismantle, haul and then put the swingset back together.
Even Jack helped.
Mom tried to supervise the boys.
Then Mike tried to keep Jack preoccupied until his "playground" was ready.
Then, Jack gave it a go.
Getting ready for the 20-something Olympic gymnastics.
Thanks Grandpa and Grandma!

Outside Fun

We are enjoying the beautiful weather while it lasts. It looks like rainy days are headed our way just in time for the weekend. That would be two weekends in a row and that really bums me out.
We had fun riding tricycles and chasing each other tonight.
This is our dog, Molly. She is a gentle girl. I need to book her a grooming appointment. She looks like a mini Shaggy D.A. dog.

Special Delivery

Jack received a very special package in the mail from his Aunt Jay tonight. Aunt Jay is his birth mom's sister. She's also a really good basketball player.
Jack was pretty excited about unwrapping Aunt Jay's gift.
A watermelon mini garden.
First, he watered the dirt.

Then he planted the watermelon seeds.
Thanks Aunt Jay. We had a lot of fun and I can't wait to see the look on Jack's face when these plants pop out. Maybe we'll be able to bring you some fresh fruit this summer! Fingers crossed.

Team Edward or Team Jacob?

So, I finally watched the two Twilight movies. I wasn't too impressed. As I watched the movies, I kept thinking, "Bella, you're not in love. It's just infatuation." And, "You want to have vampire babies? Boy, they would be fun to nurse."

Seriously, is any man worth giving up your soul?

If I had to choose, I'd probably choose Jacob. Am I sucker for muscles or do I just dislike vampires that much? The wet dog smell would be pretty horendous.

Vogue/Striking a Pose

I attended a Women's Network event last week. A friend snapped a picture of me and Laura, a fellow Salvation Army board member. Marilyn just pales in comparison. During the event, a friend in my professional women's group won a prestigious young leadership award. It was a very special evening.

How to torture a 2.5 year old without really trying

I bought Jack a white shirt and tie for his birth mom's upcoming wedding. And I made him try them on tonight. What a handsome guy. What horrible torture!

Rainy Weekend

This weekend was a little dreary. It rained almost the entire weekend. So, we filled our days with inside activities like bowling and piggy back rides. We went to Grandma and Grandpa's house today where Jack painted a Dora masterpiece.
We saw Meaghan and Garrett. She's a poser.
Here's the anatomy of a swing, courtesy of Garrett.
And the release!

Seriously?

I was watching cartoons with Jack this morning and saw a PSA about braces. Yeah, you read that right. A public service announcement about braces. Now, from what I remember about working at a local television station, the locals have to plug kids programming with PSAs. I believe it's a federal requirement. There may be a spot or two for commericals but the rest is PSA filler. Maybe it was a network spot. Either way, it shouldn't have been marked as a PSA.

The craziest PSAs I remember seeing when I worked at the station was one about plastic surgery (it's real surgery so give it some serious thought), and one about PGA golf. Um, sorry. I threw those away. Those didn't qualify for PSA's. Not sure how one about braces made the cut.

Gummy Whites

Did you ever hear the one about the girl who got a free tube of tooth whitening from her dentist? Her gums ended up being brighter than her teeth. Ouch! Operator error.

Thrifty Shopper? There's Another Term for That.

I consider myself a thrifty shopper. I like to check out the local thrift shops, including the Salvation Army. But I take my professional thriftiness to a whole new level. You could call me a collector connoisseur or dumpster diver. I prefer dumpster diva. Yes, I moonlight as a refuse collector. (Please know this was on someone's curb headed for the landfill.) So, before you judge me, thank me for slowing down the speed at which our dump fills. :)

Actually, I don't do this very often. But when something catches my eye, like this desk did this morning, well, I dove.
It comes with a chair that is a perfect fit for Jack and cats. Max sure liked it. Besides from a few crayon marks, this desk is in great shape.
You could say it's the cat's meow.

Sun Fun

It was a beautiful evening so I took Jack to the park tonight. He loves the park slides and sand, but he seemed to enjoy walking on the rocks even more.
What? You talking to me?
Just call him a Mark Wahlberg wannabe. Check out the diaper sticking out from his pants.
Riding into the sunset.

The Office

Want a behind the scenes look at my work? A co-worker produced a spoof of The Office based on the characters he works with. Click here to check us out!

Wrestlemania

Somebody sure loves to tussle around here. Jack looks forward to wrestling with daddy at night. Of course, I remember what my mom used to say, "It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt." I'm turning into my mother!
Jack tortured Mike with a lollipop tonight. I'm reminded of the Robin Hood movie with Kevin Coster, when Alan Rickman's character says, "Use a spoon. It will hurt more." Well, Jack didn't use a spoon but did jab Mike in the eye with a lollipop.
I feel like the ER personnel, on stand-by in case someone really does get hurt.

Weekend in Review

We had a wonderful weekend, filled with sunshine, fun and fellowship. Before heading to Grandma's and Grandpa's this morning, I celebrated a communion service with my friends at the retirement and nursing homes. Jack wanted to "see friends too." I was so tempted to take him but I still remember the last time I did and he bounced off the walls. I will take him again when he is a little older.

Then we headed for the farm where we played with cousins, Meaghan and Garrett.
My brother and SIL bought four chickens today. They live in the country near my parents so they can pretty much raise whatever they want. Those little chicks were so cute. Meaghan is super excited even though she'd rather have a kitty.
I hope you had a wonderful weekend. It flew by so fast.

Fun at the Farm
