Mr. Social

When it comes to our social calendar, when it rains, it pours. We had a busy, fun day today. First, Jack helped me with my communion ministry this morning. It's a good thing he's so cute because, despite his awnriness, my friends told me to bring him back soon.

Then we came home and got ready to party. We were excited to be invited to two birthday parties today. First, we went to Max and Audrey's party. Their mother and I went to the same university and even braved journalism school at the same time.
Jack loved the inflatable slide. He had a blast!
And for the first time, he actually enjoyed being in a bounce house. Maybe it was because most of the children were around his age and height. When we go to the bigger events, the ages of the children are so random and sometimes you end up with the bigger kids.
Jack even sat with the birthday boy. Max is in the orange shirt. That's my diet Coke. :)
Later, Max and Audrey's parents rigged up the pirate ship pinata. Totally cool. Jack took a couple of swings at it. I think we'll have to look into one for his birthday.
Then we watched as Max blew out the candles on his cool cake.
Audrey enjoyed her cake too. What a precious little girl!
Then we headed back home to our neighbors' party. Their little girl, Sophie was celebrating her birthday. Of course, Jack had to have a ball in the pool with him.
Check out that form!
Forget Fred Flinstone feet. Jack had it easy with daddy power.
Happy Birthday Sophie!
A cute shot of our other neighbor and his boy, Colton.
What a wonderful day! After Sophie opened her presents, we headed home and took naps. We were so bushed! Ironically, our calendars are totally open next weekend. That's the way it is around here. :) Feast or famine.

What You Won't See

Because my camera is on the fritz, this is what you won't see from a co-worker's get-together this afternoon.
  • Jack kicking a ball like a soccer pro.
  • Jack chasing chickens.
  • Mike chasing chickens.
  • Overheard: "Over in the woods is the ghost of a Native American, shaking his head and saying, "I can't believe we lost this land to these people," as my co-worker's son tried three times to hit the wood pile with a burning stick from his bow.
  • My co-worker's bonfire flaming so high that one of his tree branches caught fire.
  • Me, making my graceful exit, twisting my ankle as I fell down. No, I didn't drink any alcohol tonight. Just being my usual graceful self.

Making New Friends

We got together with some "old" friends and met some new friends Saturday night. The weather was beautiful. Jack played basketball. He's ready for the NBA now.

Jack also pet a catepillar which was fun until he decided the little bug needed to learn how to bungee jump.We set the little critter free.Mike was asked to help judge the chili contest, quite an honor. Unfortunately, Jack thought Mike was eating ice cream so he had a little meltdown. Poor guy. He loves his ice cream.By the way, I made pasta salad for the evening, my first ever pasta salad. The pasta salad is called "California salad," a recipe my grandmother brought home from the state when she visited her sisters. It's pretty simple but I was still a little nervous. Well, I actually got compliments on the salad, a couple said it was the best they've tasted. Whoo-hoo! I was on cloud nine.

Fun with Friends

We had a great time with wonderful friends tonight. This is a family very dear to us. They often help us in a pinch when we need someone to watch Jack. And they're so much fun to hang out with. We enjoyed Mexican food, then Jack wanted candy, so he munched on not only his lollipop but poor Griffin's ring pop as well. At least Jack's had all his shots.Me share?Stinker!Move over Elizabeth Taylor! Ring pops are cool, look so genuine and are much cheaper.Poor EE had a run-in with a white object we can call a tissue, for lack of a better word. Ew! EE, nobody models TP like you, nobody! Bye, bye!
