Hungry?

What do you do when there's a presidential debate going on? Let your husband digest it as you create your very own M&M character. Ta ta! And, I'm too sexy for my shell, too sexy for my shell.

Getting Closer

We had our last visit with our social worker tonight. I decided not to make a big deal out of it on the blog this time because I was a bit of a weenie last time worrying about the cleaning, etc. The house wasn't as clean tonight but everything went fine, except for Jack bumping his head right before these pictures were taken.

I have mixed feelings as we move forward, just like I did when we neared the end of our weekly visits with Jack before our courtdate. Back then, I was sad that we wouldn't see our foster family as much because we had developed a wonderful relationship with them. (Of course, I was looking forward to having Jack home full-time.) Now, I'm a little sad that we won't see our wonderful social worker as often.

However, we are one step closer to finalizing Jack's adoption and becoming an "official" family of three! Life is still a little surreal for me at times when I realize that we have a beautiful baby boy in our home. We are so blessed.

Favorite Pastime

When Jack gets crabby, there's usually at least one thing that will make him happy...piggy back rides on dad. He likes to hang on to daddy's "mane."

We had a wonderful time with EE, her HH and the rest of the brood last Friday. Jack brings merriment with him wherever he goes.

Family Picture Fun

Take one

Take five

It's rare for Mike to keep his eyes open in a photo and not look like a goof ball.

Thanks EE for the photo session!

Bathtime Fun

Bathtime with Jack is so much fun. He gets so excited.First, there's the pull-ups he runs through with dad.
Then it's bubble time fun! I watch and make sure he doesn't injest as many bubbles as he puts on his face. What a little stinker! I love this little guy.Of course, mommy has to get in on the action too.

Weekend in a Nutshell

Jack and I visited my parents today and had a fun time with cousins Garrett and Meaghan. My aunt Arline, the rummage sale queen, found a couple of bikes for the kids. One includes the cutest HK seat cover. Eat your heart out Amy!I tried to keep up with Meaghan but she was a little fast for me. Also, she always had to be first. :( Although my butt's a little sore, I did my best.

Meaghan wore the shirt I bought her last year. It describes her to a "T."
This next picture is not for the faint at heart. It's a couple of chickens that scored well in sex education. Only look if you dare!

At least they died happy.

Baby Steps

Jack took his first steps a few days ago and is becoming more steady on his feet every day. He puts his little hands out and takes his Frankenstein type steps. So cute!

I had the follow-up visit with my physician today. Unfortunately, he didn't have the "surgery of the week" DVD or before/after pictures of my surgery. So, I guess that's something to look forward to next time. Before the surgery, one of my ovaries had been stuck behind my uterus. Wow! Who would have thought I was so flexible??

My So-Called Easy Going Weekend

Every fall I take the "kids" in for their yearlies. Recently, one of my cats, the veteran of the group, has had a milky eye. I was able to move her vet trip up a week and took her in Saturday. I assumed it was an allergy to carpet cleaner. Well, six medicines later, it appears she has moderate and diffuse corneal edema, new blood vessel growth, a corneal ulcer and aqueous flare. The good thing is that if these medicines work it looks like she'll be able to keep her eye. The bad thing is the cost of the medicine, the five hours I spent at two different vets on Saturday and the possibility that my cat also has a thyroid problem. This means that after the eye cleans up she will need additional medicine to control her thyroid. This poor kitty. She's probably 15 years old but is so full of spunk. How does one get to the point where they put their animal babies to sleep? I'm not there yet. I don't think Pixie is ready to give up either.

On a much lighter note, we chilled out the rest of the weekend at home. Hurricane Ike's aftermath kept us indoors. It's amazing how much rain we received over the past two days. Today, Jack really enjoyed this stuffed bear given to him by his birth mother last Christmas.

Surgery update

I survived the surgery and the nausea. I'm so glad that's over. Even though I want to eat, I'm not all that hungry and everything I've attempted to eat leaves my mouth dry or gives me a bad aftertaste. I hope my appetite is back tomorrow. In the meantime, maybe I'll lose some weight. A girl can dream.

Oddly, I met someone I know during my wait this morning. I was really hoping that wouldn't happen. I looked like death warmed over and had just left the restroom. And then he wanted to shake my hand. Ugh! Why is there always that last remnant of water on your hands right after you wash them? Poor guy. I should have told him that I just used hand sanitizer as he wiped his hand on his suit. I hope that was just a natural reaction and he didn't think I was disgusting.

Weekend in Review

We had a wonderful weekend with Baby Jack. We watched our town's Fall Festival parade on Saturday morning and scored some candy. Whoo hoo! It will be a sad day when Jack realizes the sugar value of candy and refuses to give any to his parents.Jack received his first hair cut on Saturday. Carrie did a great job. Jack looks a little more grown up now. As Mike would say, my baby's not such a baby anymore.Like mother, like son. Virtual twins. Do you think my hair tin scared Jack?Prepping for surgery feels like preparing for one's own funeral. Remove all your jewelry, take off nail polish, shave your legs (okay, so I added the last one). Today's diet consisted of two cans of chicken broth. I was relieved that my meals were 99% fat free. Ha. I am starving and looking forward to a real meal tomorrow afternoon.
